Happy New Year Everyone!
It has been a while since communication with the whole group and hope everyone is healthy, happy, and busy with interesting work. A couple highlights from the past year are:
Call for Maps for the 7th Iteration of the Places & Spaces: Mapping Science Exhibit “Science Maps as Visual Interfaces to Digital Libraries”. The exhibit continues to get more and more traction and a larger audience. Katy Borner has truly amazing with energy and insight bringing these complex topics down to earth. The Atlas of Science has been published by MIT Press and the first printing has already sold out. Bonnie DeVarco arranged for a show at Stanford University that was a big hit.
I got to visit South Africa and Zimbabwe in April and met with Architects in Harare and City Planners in Mutare to present Ideas for Sustainable Development in Zimbabwe. My husband Bruce presented his drawings to a group of art students. We were there visiting our friends posted in Zim and got to spend a few days in Cape Town too. A great trip recommend to anyone.
I’m working on a project with Kevin Kearns – his museum Science World British Columbia is being renovated by Cannon Design the architecture/engineering firm where I work. The building includes a dome designed by Buckminster Fuller himself. Kevin has been working towards this major renovation for years, the results should be a nice improvement. Kevin is also a new Dad!
A lot more has been going on over the past year with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to deliver digital building information to fire departments. The more I see from the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) the more impressive they are.
A few more brief highlights below.
EIN 41-2132868, will update Guidestar by the end of January

The website is very active, please take a look. There are currently 48 subscribers, 6 editors (you all) plus Arshia and I. I regularly manage comments, most are junk but occasionally there is something really good. A non-profit for non-profits has offered to jazz up the Facebook Cause and will try to steer more people that way, I’ll keep you posted.
Thanks! for reading this and your many different efforts toward better public information exchange and for serving on the Accuracy&Aesthetics Board of Directors. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. Perhaps we can try a web meeting in a few weeks?
Best Regards and Happy Holidays!
